Bison is AWESOME

Monday, January 26th, 2009

Buffalo (aka Bison) is one of the healthiest meats you can feed your pet. It has a lower fat content than chicken and 25% more protein than beef. Not to mention Bison has 69% more Iron than beef. Because of it’s low fat and high protein content it makes it really easy for dogs and cats with allergies or stomach issues to digest.

All Bison is grass-fed and can never be raised on a farm – another great reason to try Bison.

Call Moe’s Meats to find out more. We are located in NE Portland and deliver right to your car.

Happy Birthday to Me

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

yes lovely readers, it is my birthday today…along with my other brothers and sisters.

i started the day by getting out of bed and taking my regular post-sleep nap. afterwards i noshed on a rec bone, then ate a bowl full of oatmeal with a raw egg on top and some drizzled olive oil.

while Woman had a tea date, i napped more, then went to the park – collar-free. for dinner i’m gonna, like, dine on some bison and make my wish.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME.

ohhh apparently, i’m like having a birthday party this weekend, so i’ll post pics later.

Human Point of View: Switching to the Meat Diet

Saturday, July 26th, 2008

Courtney here:

Yes, those pics below are really me eating meat (Bison – not raw) for the first time.

For the record, I stopped eating meat 11 years ago, but I did eat pork 10 years ago (ham craving after a crazy night in Australia). I stopped eating red meat when I was in the 3rd grade (or something like that) because I bit into an undercooked hamburger and thought I might die.

So I ate some bison and nothing weird happened to me. If I could do it, then surely you can begin to feed your dogs raw meat. It won’t hurt them, I promise.

Human Point of View: Components of the Raw Meat Diet

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

Satchel asked me to blog about what raw meaty bits are included in the raw meat diet. Before I list everything below, let me first shout out to Moe for lending today’s blog space – you’re the best Moe!!!

Raw Meaty Bones
Chicken, turkey, duck, and pork necks, chicken feet, chicken backs and wings, rabbit

Ground Raw Meat
Chicken, turkey, duck, bison, venison, and pretty much any animal that most Americans would eat. These always contain ground bone and you have the option to include organ meats (liver, kidney, heart, gizzard).

Crushed Veggies
All fruits and veggies onions, grapes, raisins, corn cobs…. Try to get organic whenever possible.

Rec Bones
Knuckle bones, knee bones and mysterious joints of animals. These are like TV for your dog.

Wholesome Table Scarps – in small quantity
Garlic, oatmeal, eggs with shell, rice, toast crusts, grains (great source of carbohydrates), non-yeast bread, couscous. And remember, organic is best – no nasty chemicals.
