Portland, Oregon Raw Meat Provider
The key to transitioning your dog to the raw diet is to start slow. Their first raw meal should be 3/4 what they normally eat and 1/4 raw meat. You can slowly work your way from there. If you do notice they have a belly ache, pick up some digestive enzymes at your grocery store and give them a pill with each meal until the bottle is finished. By that time they should be fine with eating raw.
We recommend adding ground veggies to every meal. Some varieties of our meat comes with veggies added (it’s an 80/20 mix) and we also sell ground veggies in a 1.5 pound container.
Here is a nutritional analysis of the ground meat we sell. From there you can figure out what percentages you want to feed him. But I wouldn’t worry too much about exact percentages. It’s all about balance over time.
Here is a guide to feeding recommendations, but it really depends on your dog’s health, age, metabolism, etc. You’ll be able to figure it out over time.
We do recommend starting with a variety of meats. Maybe some chicken, turkey, duck, and lamb, for example. Dogs are generally pretty accepting of all types of meat and variety is a great to avoid sensitivities.
