Human Point of View: Feeding Cats Raw Meat

Thank you Satchel for that enlightening message to cat owners.

Here’s the deal: Cats are carnivores and need meat to maintain a healthy balance of protein and amino acids. Raw meat is equally great for cats and dogs and Moe’s Meats fully supports feeding cats raw meat.

Just like dogs, cats will live longer and healthier lives on the raw meat diet vs. a dry or soft cat food diet. Their teeth and bones will be stronger and most common diseases won’t crop up in your cat because they will be eating more natural food.

Cats don’t require their meat to be ground – just don’t give them pieces of bones they won’t be able to digest. I’ve heard that you can buy pre-killed mice at pet stores to feed your cat. I’ve not done any research on the meat quality of mice raised for snake feedings, but I would question this practice.

Taurine is a must for cats and this can be found in heart meat, which we sell here at Moe’s Meats. Any variety of canned seafood also contains taurine, so supplement your meals with tuna, clams, sardines and mackerel like a reader suggested in her comment.

Cats will also need to be feed ground veggies with their raw meat meals. Having a pot of wheat grass or regular lawn grass out for them to nibble is also a great addition to their diet as well.
